You'll find the Surami Fortress, a medieval complex with a church, tower, and palace, offering a glimpse into Georgia's past. The town is also located at the crossroads of two important historical roads, further highlighting its strategic significance.
Ancient caves of Vardzia - the city was erected in the 12th – 13th centuries during the rule of George III and his daughter of Tamara for the purpose of the southern boundaries of Georgia protection. Vardzia is not just a set of random rooms cut in rocks. It is a multi-storied complex with streets, tunnels and stairs leading to monasteries, temples, fortresses, baths, libraries dwelling houses and so forth.
Rabati fortress - the old stone fortress, the main sight of the Akhaltsikhe town, is standing on the small hill on the very shores of the Potskhovi river. It is located on the western suburbs and can be seen practically from anywhere in the city. This military building erected in the 13th century had witnessed a lot over the centuries.
Borjomi central park - it is dated back to 1850, occupies a narrow wooded valley and includes the town's original mineral water source and a lot of naff rides and entertainments. It is more like attractions park, with nice and calmful walks to woods. If you walk about 3km upstream, you’ll find several small, spring-fed swimming pools (5 GEL) with a constant temperature of about 27°C.
